Dance Recital

by Ironmom

Oh my goodness! Summer is exhausting! We have been having so much fun. There hasn’t been much down time. Almost every night I fall into bed and am asleep before my head hits the pillow.

So the next few posts will be some summer updates. If I tried to put them all in one, it would be the longest post ever!

I’m going to start with Miranda’s dance recital. It went so well. This is the first year Miranda had 2 dances. She was very excited but a little nervous about this. She asked me to be one of the back stage moms so I could help her. That was a first for me too. I love sitting and watching the show. The dance team at our studio is very good. Thankfully we both survived.

First up was the hip hop routine. I loved everything about this dance. The outfits were so cute and the songs were great. It was a combination of Tik Tok, California Girls, and Tootsie Roll. It was a very cute dance and Miranda saved her best stuff for the night of the performance.

Right after intermission was her ballet performance. Again she danced beautifully! There was only a small mistake that was made and not even by Miranda but she went with it and did great. I love that it didn’t throw her off. It was so small an error that no one in the audience probably knew. I only knew because I watched all the classes.

Miranda really likes all the flowers she gets after the performance. We gave her some, her brother gave her some, as well as her grandparents. It always makes her feel so special.

I was so proud of my girl. She really did her best. I loved that she enjoyed herself. Now, she gets a break from dance until school starts again. :) It kind of feels like a break for me too! ;)

Well, it sounds like I’m being called for more fun. Seriously, I might sleep for a week come September!…all in my quest to be an Ironmom.

Quote of the day from Lee Ann Womack’s song I Hope You Dance, (I love all the lyrics but especially these)~”Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance and when you get the choice to sit it out or dance…I hope you dance.” and “Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance and when you get the choice to sit it out or dance…I hope you dance.”

This is the song I sing to my kids before they go to bed. I’ve done it since day 1 and continue to do it today.
